Albert Einstein

The Einstein Hall of Residence is one of our newest residences. It was opened in 2018 in the multi-ethnic Calvairate neighbourhood in the southeast of the city. The facility is modern and bright, well connected to the Leonardo campus, and adjacent to a public garden. The facility offers single rooms in flats for three, four or six people, with shared bathrooms and a living area (living room with open kitchen). The communal areas are located on the ground floor. All the residence rooms are spacious and airy.

The residence offers accomodations for professors, researchers, visiting PhDs (bookable through Politecnico dedicated offices), PhD students admitted in the XXXIX cycle (online bookings on this website) and winners of the Diritto allo studio call.

What is it

The Charter of Services is a document with which the Housing & Dining Unit of Politecnico di Milano informs users of the services made available to them within its residences.

Who is it for

It is for all guests of the residences of Politecnico di Milano.

What is it for

The Charter of Services contains, among other things, the following information:

• contact details of the Director of the structure;
• the list of common areas that can be used within the residence and the methods of access;
• the list of services available to guests and their delivery modes;
• the list of on demand services available in the structure and their methods of request;
• instructions for reporting faults and requests for intervention;
• supplementary and recreational activities organized within the structures and methods of participation/registration.

Albert Einstein (1879 – 1955) was a German-born physicist. Winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921, he revolutionized theoretical physics by developing the theory of relativity. In addition to the study of physics, his interests also included philosophy and politics; thanks to his countless publications he is universally recognized as one of the greatest thinkers of the XX century. At a very young age he lived in Milan, in a period that he himself defined “the happiest of his life

Accomodation Type

The “Einstein” hall of residence offers 214 beds, divided into studios and single rooms with a shared bathroom and kitchen. The following is available:

• rooms (single/equipped for disabled use) organised within integrated units, i.e. small flats with shared bathroom, kitchen and living room;
• open-space studios for one person each (reserved for visiting professors);
• each housing unit is furnished with a bed, a mattress, a bedside table, a wardrobe, a bookcase, a desk, a desk chair and a storage trunk;
• in the communal kitchens, there is a fridge, a hob with cupboards, an induction hob and extractor hood, an oven, a microwave oven, a pantry, a dining table with chairs, a sofa and a smart TV;
• bathroom facilities: all have a washbasin, shower and bidet. Some of them are equipped for people with motor disability.
